William Alan Kaye, MD, FACP, is president and founder of Palm Beach Diabetes and Endocrine Specialists, PA, and president and cofounder of Metabolic Research Institute Inc., both in West Palm Beach, Florida. He is an affiliate assistant professor of medicine at University of Miami Miller School of Medicine/JFK Medical Center, also in West Palm Beach. Dr. Kaye received his medical degree from Brown University, where he was elected to the Sigma Xi Scientific Honor Society. Following his internal medicine training at Brown and its affiliated hospitals, Dr. Kaye completed a nephrology fellowship at Cornell University Medical Center at New York Hospital and the Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. He subsequently joined the faculty of the Harvard University Medical School, where he served as a consultant to the prestigious Joslin Diabetes Center and the New England Deaconess Hospital in Boston. Concomitant with his faculty position he went on to complete an endocrinology and diabetes fellowship at that institution. Dr. Kaye has the distinction of being one of a handful of triple-boarded physicians (in internal medicine, endocrinology, and nephrology) in the world.
In 1985 Dr. Kaye founded Palm Beach Diabetes and Endocrine Specialists, which has now grown to include 12 board-certified endocrinologists in 4 counties. Palm Beach Diabetes and Endocrine Specialists also has the distinction of being certified by the American Diabetes Association as a “Center of Excellence.” Dr. Kaye co-founded the Metabolic Research Institute, which conducts phase 2-4 clinical research studies in the area of diabetes, metabolism, lipids, and hypertension.
Dr. Kaye is the past president of the Palm Beach County American Diabetes Association and served as chief of endocrinology at both Good Samaritan and St. Mary’s Hospitals. A current member of the Endocrine Society and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, Dr. Kaye has been named to the list of Top Physicians of America, as chosen by his own peers. Over the past several years Dr. Kaye has presented lectures on various endocrine diseases both locally and nationally. His articles on diabetes, hypertension, kidney disease, and cholesterol disorders have been published in peer-reviewed journals such as New England Journal of Medicine and Archives of Internal Medicine. Dr. Kaye is also a contributing author to the magazine Diabetes Forecast.
